Crisis of monumental proportions facing Kingston

The structural problems with the City of Kingston budget are very bad for the foreseeable future (ie.beyond 2 years, probably beyond 5 years). According to Mayor Sottile, Kingston is carrying around $3.5 Million of unpaid pension liabilities, which he plans on amortizing over the next 6 years at $600,000 per year.
This is painfully serious money that Kingston will have a hard time collecting from a dwindling tax base. If Kingston has to live with a 2% property tax cap, the new contracts for DPW, Fire and Police will have to be drastically cut. Positions will have to be cut. This is a crisis of monumental proportions facing Kingston this year.

Great..the only descent paying jobs left around here are next to get destroyed. Happy days...What a bright future we will all have. Maybe someday I'll drop dead at work because social security will have been robbed to pay for our foreign policy, pensions will be gone, and Wall St. will make another trillion disappear so our 401ks will be worthless. Maybe I should start a business so I can start screwing some people too. Any ideas?

No Ethics accusations says the Mayor so no ethics committee? Ask Clark Ricters about Uptown parking garage scandal? Look at page 3 of Freeman today - gee I wonder if these appliance removal contracts went out to bid? Do these guys have insurance? Seems retired cops and men with white shirts and badges know how to fleece taxpayers.

Tell us about it - Andi Turco-Levin only candidate going after rampant King's Inn corruption - not a peep from anyone else.

The mayor stated that he has no control of manning and health insurance - he negotiated and signed those contracts while the same unions worked on his re-election campaign four years ago - talk about an ethics violation and abuse of taxpayers. He cries about AVr and the sewer plant - the City has been put on notice by the DEC 1o years before we heard of AVR - Sottile kept making positions for his cronies and ignored the problem.
