Kingston Mayor Sottile not running for re-election in 2011 - Interview Candidates

The key words for the City of Kingston are "Pay Freeze".  My fellow Kingston taxpayers, let's start asking the potential candidates (Clement Hayes, Rich Cahill, Andi Turco-Levin, Bill Reynolds, Shayne Gallo and others) how they feel about Pay Freezes written into the 3 upcoming 2011 contracts for DPW, Fire and Police.  Please let's post their replies on this blog.

Will the new Mayor and Council be hamstrund with inflexible crippling labor contracts we have now? If the current mayor and Council put contracts in place beyond 2011 it won't matter who is Mayor or on the Common Council.

Why don't you run Ralph?

Newburg Fire Dept. takes a 5 year pay cut. No increase in 2010 and a 5% cut as of 1/1/11 -7/1/13. Also 10% reduction in starting salary, 10% health insurnace contribution, change of shifts from 9 and 15 hours to 24 hours. Wake Up Kingston.

To 8:30am,
Thanks for the reference to the Wed. Times-Herald Record article on the effects of Gov.Cuomo's Tax Cap on the present local school and municipal budgets. All of the future school district and municipal budgets should implement a pay freeze including no percentage increase and no step increases.

To 9:40am,
Thanks for the complement. However, there are others who have more experience and political skills and who are willing to run for office.
