Election Day 2009 - Vote NO TAX INCREASE all the way!

Why would a resident of Kingston, NY, the County of Ulster, or New York State vote for someone who cannot pledge to NOT VOTE for budgets which INCREASE TAXES?

Please vote for the candidates who have pledged NO TAX INCREASES for 2 years.  We owe it to ourselves, our children, our grandchildren and the future financial health of our area.

Where have all the young people gone?  The Kingston Area has been devasted by the departure of IBM jobs and money.  In our area we have IBM retirees with pensions and we have young people in high schools and elementary schools.  In between these two age groups, we have a severely dwindling young adult and middle age population.  Our area is in severe trouble.  New York State is in severe trouble.  What are we going to do about it?

We are going to vote for the candidates who have pledged NO TAX INCREASES for 2 years. We owe it to ourselves, our children, our grandchildren and the future financial health of our area.

If you vote zero tax for the next two years what do you think is going to happen at year 3?

Small tax increases are a lot more fair than NO tax increases then getting hit with a 14% + increase at year 3.

At least with the smaller incriments I can keep up with paying it on time, not that anyone cares why a hard working single income home cares about paying her taxes...
Give me a break and stop living in a dream world.

Start thinking about bringing JOBS to this city and county, green or not, lets not be so damn picky. If the jobs aren't green when they get here give them "X" amount of time to get green.. fair enough?

You better up your police department staff too. The bond performance of this city will sink and insurance rates will skyrocket if the crime and lack of safety continues.

To 9:44am,
We need ZERO TAX INCREASES for the next 2 years. Then, as we begin to restructure city and county government, the next round of municipal union contracts will have to be much more realistic. For example, it is reasonable for the municipal union contracts to eliminate pensions in favor of
401K matching retirement accounts, employees paying for high percentage of health insurance, and pay to performance raises only.
In summary, in years 3 and beyond, we should have a goal of REDUCING the tax rate. Then, you will see our beautiful area full of young people taking advantage of a healthy job environment.
